Ardengo Soffici Museum

The museum is situated inside the Scuderie Medicee (Medici Stables) and represents, together with collections in the library dedicated to Soffici's works, a fundamental center for the knowledge of this protagonist of twentieth century culture. The museum shows a series of works, painted between 1904 and 1962. The group of paintings will allow visitors to follow the development of the artist's creativity and his stylistic contribution to modern art, made even more significant by his deep-rooted attachment to Poggio a Caiano despite his European imprint.
Poggio a Caiano is like an open-air museum for the artistic production of Ardengo Soffici: he was born in Rignano sull'Arno but lived in Poggio a Caiano since 1907 with only a few interruptions due to the First World War and his job as a jurnalist in Rome. The landscape and the people of Poggio a Caiano inspired his work up to identify the village with the artist.
