Vine and Wine Museum

The Museum is located in the rooms belonging to the former Niccolini Cellars and it exhibits, as well as a rich collection of valuable bottles (more than 800), cadastres and old maps of farms, farm tools and various finds that testimony the fame of the Carmignano wine from antiquity to now. The most important document is without doubt the proclamation of grand duke Cosimo III de' Medici in 1716, which set precise production regulations for the Carmignano. The narrow access corridor to the museum gives the sensation of going through a row of virtual vine, with on the sides the reproduction of two works by Bartolomeo Bimbi (1644-1729) of which the originals are kept in the Medici Villa in Poggio a Caiano. The panels represent respectively 37 and 38 types of grapes from the vines grown in the area at the time.
