On 24th May the Palio delle Contrade takes place in Fucecchio.
It is a very ancient dispute of medieval origins, one of the most important historical events in Tuscany. in which the undisputed protagonists of the event are the 12 city districts.
The race on the penultimate Sunday in May is the culmination of an entire week of events, including the presentation of the cloth and the historic parade, with flag-wavers and characters, and is preceded by other collateral initiatives throughout the year.
